The Adventures of Tamara and Program! PDF Print E-mail

WOW! What a day!!!
Neither Program nor I had ever been as far as Campbell River and we totally fell in love with Courtenay (he even took a nap while I postered away at the Library, silly puppy..). The people there are fabulous, warm and welcoming and were more than happy to help us promote our Festival!

Tim told me to find donuts, but alas, there were none. What we did find was freshly squeezed juice in a Zen Corner, tons of bookstores and coffee shops! I might even go so far to say that there were more coffee shops than people in downtown Courtenay when we were there, it was a caffeine lovers' holiday miracle of sorts ;) Whatever. Either way, I’m totally not complaining.

We had a chance to visit with Tony Martin at the Comox Valley Art Gallery (http://www.comoxvalleyartgallery.com) and take in a bit of their amazing Mail Art Exhibit. Tony is also the go-to guy for the CVAG Film Series and as a film lover and aficionado is a priceless asset to the Victoria Film Festival as a promotional machine. If you are in Courtenay you should A. Check out that exhibit and B. Get information about the VFF from Tony or his very friendly staff!

After walking around Courtenay for a while it was time to leave, we waved goodbye to Courtenay and headed off to Campbell River to visit with Kevin Harrison who is in charge of the Festival of Film at Timberline Secondary School, and along with the help of some of his student recruits, they will be distributing information throughout the Campbell River community. We are all very appreciative of his efforts and the efforts of his students and look forward to seeing them again when we hit the road to do our program distribution next month!

Then it was time to hit gnome, err I mean home… The gnome is a random giant monument on the way home so I thought I would share yet another Canadian Roadside Attraction – Program was scared! It is famous – but I think you would be too if you were 29 feet tall. Apparently he has been there for 40 years.  He looks pretty good for his age, but I digress…  On to Victoria under an amazing ‘almost’ full moon and back to ‘big city’ life ;). Time to put program to bed and begin another day of promotion tomorrow!

Love and Sloppy kisses
Tamara and Program
