We are concluding our preliminary trips up-island and were extremely fortunate to meet with the ladies of The Reel Alternatives Film Society: Mary Ann Deacon and Leanne Forest in Duncan. The hospitality provided to this traveling duo by the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society was amazing! Program really enjoyed the homemade cookies while I pumped myself full of caffeine in preparation for our long day! We were informed that it could come to pass that Duncan may lose its’ theatre, that is terrible!! We hope that a film angel comes and saves the theatre and look very much forward to visiting with Mary Ann and Leanne (and their cookies…??!) in January! As fantastic as that visit was, it was time to hop in the car and head up to Nanaimo to meet with the folks at Theatre One. They have so many amazing things going on coming up, you should really check out their website. As well, they have graciously offered to put our Empress Package flyers in their programs and have our programs available in January at their box office for you to pick up. In the meantime, if you need more information please go and see them, they are awesome! As we wandered around downtown Nanaimo, Program and I smelled something amazing, and being the curious puppy that he is, we just had to go investigate. Turns out a former Victoria chef has opened up his own micro-resto and we just had to try the soup! Program may have a fur coat on but I get pretty darn cold walking around outside and it warmed us up enough to continue our postering mission. If you are in Nanaimo or plan to be, you should really go to Gabriel’s Café and while you are there you can check out the information on the Empress Packages, gaze in wonder at our magnificent magenta mementos and in January you will be able to sit, sup and browse through our 2010 Program Guide!! Don’t forget, the holiday’s are just around the corner and we have GIFT CERTIFICATES!!! It really is the best gift for the film buff in your family – don’t miss out!! Love and Sloppy Kisses, Tamara and Program
