Crazy night. Did I mention it was a crazy night? Before the opening night movie, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, the lights went out for about five minutes. At the Gala there was a power failure for about as long. No harm, it was a blast. I learned a lot about Coco and Igor. Did you know it was almost impossible to have spontaneous sex in the 1920s? And that Chanel No. 3 was too sweet, while No. 4 was too vinegary?
The Gala was fabulous. Great larger venue. Had a chance to chat with April Butler-Parry, director of The Brothel Project. I found out it is very hard to conceal a mic on a naked prostitute.
Warren Sonoda, director of Coopers’ Camera, loved his film fest swag: a tea and a bar of soap. Charles Martin Smith was very cool and just the right size for a man, in my opinion. Richard Crouse, who is here to interview Kris Kristofferson on Tuesday, promised me 30 seconds with the man. And BJ Cook was an absolute gas. She invited me into her limo, I had to pass, but she explained her connection to Kris Kristofferson. I think she may be the key to my meeting.
Tonight, it’s Beyond Gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that, and Like Danelion Dust. See you there.
