Curriculum Focused Screenings at The Vic Theatre
The Victoria Film Festival offers a unique educational experience through curriculum-based screenings at The Vic Theatre in downtown Victoria. With the assistance of our Programmer, we present teachers with a selection of films focused on your curriculum. Screenings available throughout the Festival often have the filmmaker in attendance to provide a Q&A following the film. We do also offer films throughout the school year.
Filmmakers Into Schools
The Festival is looking for teachers interested in having filmmakers visit their classrooms to talk about the experience of creating films. The filmmakers will include writers, directors, composers and producers involved in documentaries, narrative and experimental film.
Our speakers cover a range of topics, all of which promote a critical understanding of how visual media affects our lives. Visits can be designed to fit within the context of classroom schedules and subject areas — literature, art, music, social studies, career planning or language studies. It also provides students with the opportunity to speak with real, professional filmmakers to get advice, guidance and insight into a filmmaking career. There is no cost to have a filmmaker visit your school.
