SpringBoard – the talks

The Victoria Film Festival, called together a jury of established Canadian filmmakers and notable film critics from across the country who have chosen the top 20 most promising filmmakers in Canada.  The Festival has invited those filmmakers to come to Victoria and talk about their experiences in the industry in a unique new program SpringBoard Talks.

SpringBoard will celebrate the 20 most promising new filmmakers. Over 50 names were considered, out of which 20 (producers, directors and actors) will be chosen to attend the festival and be given the opportunity to talk and inspire. Addressing thoughts on the future of filmmaking, share a filmmaking anecdote, talk about their work with actors, writers, or any number of concepts that affect their working lives.

In selecting the top 20, the Festival felt it important to shine the spotlight on our best and brightest. This is a first of its kind endeavour for the Festival. We have such incredible talent in this country and we are proud to be able to give these individuals a boost in their chosen careers.
